Blossom Sheds Her Fears to Blossom into a Happy Dog

Dog rescuer Rocky found Blossom to be initially a painfully shy and scared dog. Fear was in her eyes and she didn’t even know the typical activities of a canine. She was shaking violently and very scared when Rocky rescued her and took her to a dog shelter.

Blossom had mentally shut down and continued to be in a shy state for some weeks. She hadn’t felt grass before and was terrified to step on it. Sunlight scared her too. She evaded eye contact and ran and hid when Rocky tried it.

To help Blossom, Rocky built a small bedroom around her hiding spot. This comfortable place made the dog feel more secure and she started showing some improvement in behavior. Rocky hand-fed her to build trust. Blossom didn’t even know how to drink from a water bowl.

One day, Blossom saw another dog drinking out of a water bowl and perfectly copied the action. This made Rocky feel elated. Blossom cruised other water bowls and drank from them too. After two months, Blossom surprised Rocky by jumping onto his couch.

Blossom also started greeting newly arrived dogs at the shelter and socialized with them. One day, Blossom started running around happily wagging her tail, the first time she did so in her 3-year-old life. Rocky was happy that all the hard work was worth it as Blossom had shed all her fears and was ready to be adopted.
