Anyone who grew up watching Disney movies developed a habit of talking to animals. Blame it on those Disney princesses for showing us this was even possible. They sing to them, play with them, and ask for their help in setting themselves free from the evil queen. The movie, of course, ends with the animals seeing the princess off to her happily ever after.
Another thing that’s interesting about the Disney movies is that the interaction is not just between humans and animals. The movies also showed animals from different species communicating with each other. It put the spotlight on the community, and on how all beings can live together despite their differences.
In the company of butterflies
Milo, a Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever, is proof that such wonderful relationship among animals of all kinds still exists. The two-year-old pup enjoys spending most of his time in the garden, where the monarch butterflies are. He’s over ten times their actual size, but he’s very gentle in dealing with them.
Whenever the butterflies are busy doing their wonders with the flowers in the garden, Milo would approach them to say hi. The butterflies would then make themselves towards Milo’s nose so they can spend some time together. Other butterflies would join in and rest themselves on different parts of the retriever’s body.
The bonafide butterfly lover
According to Jennifer Bennett, Milo’s owner, he’s the nephew of her fur baby Boden, who already crossed the rainbow bridge. Milo enjoys the great outdoors, just as much as he enjoys devouring anything Bennett cooks.
The monarch butterflies in the garden Milo frequents are raised by the Bennetts. They enjoy Milo’s company just as much as he enjoys theirs. People are quite surprised by the unique friendship he has with the butterflies. Those who caught wind of his story made sure their fellow dog lovers would know about it too!
