In April 2015, the San Jose Animal Care Center received a tattered box that emanated a terrible smell. When staff members opened the box they found a terrified and severely matted dog. The dog had been neglected badly.
Her coat was matted with feces, dirt, and fleas and she had an injury on the left shoulder. The staff understood that they had a lot of work to restore the dog back to good health. They gave her the Greek mythological name Pandora as she had been found in a box.
Next, they groomed her thoroughly to get rid of her itchy fleas and matted hair. This revealed Pandora’s lovely little face. Even after some days, nobody came to retrieve her. Then, an extensive anesthetic surgery was performed on Pandora by a vet who removed her masses, repaired the umbilical hernia, and spayed her.
Pandora began showing her silly and playful nature, and she started trusting again. During the surgery, a cancerous cyst had been removed which made the rescue team members happy. After a few more days of recovery, Pandora returned to top health. Her tale has a happy ending as she was adopted by a loving pet parent. She now lives gleefully in her forever home.
